About Kristin Hagen
Kristin has been serving in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. Kristin is passionate health and wellness and embraces high-quality patient outcomes through quality clinical documentation. Through tenured experience, Kristin uniquely combines her clinical and nonclinical skill set to best align clinical documentation efficiencies with sought after professionals in the US healthcare system.
She began her career as a certified Emergency Medical Technician, later going on to work for Idaho’s largest global employer, Micron Technology in marketing and IT. Kristin cross trained her skills and started A Line Above, LLC, a high-quality clinical documentation service organization serving physicians, hospitals, and facilities, both rural and urban. During this tenure, Kristin was elected as Utah-Idaho’s delegate, followed by service on AHDI’s National Leadership Board of Directors, 2009-2012, serving as Secretary 2010. Kristin was also recognized during this time in an online publication by Advance for Health Information Management , “A Case for Hybrids.”
Recognizing the need for evolving change, Kristin sold her company nationally where she was appointed as Director of Curriculum Development for an academic institution. Through her tenured experience, she collaboratively worked with American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to deliver an online education-to-certification pathway for a Medical Billing & Coding training program. Additionally, she co-developed the nation’s first online Medical Scribe training program, recognizing an accessibility need for all, today translating to accreditation for medical scribes through standards development with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Kristin has volunteered her time and expertise with Washington-Idaho’s Regional Extension Center (WIREC/Qualis Health), Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE), Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), and Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). Since 2008, Kristin is a Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR), Health Information Exchange (CPHIE), and Health Information Technology (CPHIT). She earned her degree from Kaplan University, Summa Cum Laude, in Health Information Technology and is a Graduate Practical Nurse through Carrington College. Kristin served as a class advocacy representative and was a graduate speaker at pinning ceremony on Nightengale’s legacy. Kristin is a strong supporter and advocate on health and wellness.
Through high-quality excellence in leadership, clinical research, innovation, and systems design, Kristin uniquely blends her clinical informatics skills to best align clinical documentation adoption, efficiencies, and outcomes with sought after professionals in the US healthcare system. She enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor recreational activities, and utilizing integrative medicine in her lifestyle.
